Integration of Technology into the Academic Curriculum

In addition to the core technology curriculum courses, technology is an integral part of the academic curriculum at the Pathways to Technology Magnet School. Technology learning is reinforced throughout the total school curriculum through the use of project-based learning. Students experience the success of learning technology in a relevant and meaningful way.

All students are engaged in project-based learning. Each classroom teacher will, on a rotation basis, assign one project-based activity related to his/her curriculum. The project-based activity is a teacher-developed document that focuses on ways students can use technology to enhance learning through research and communication. Students are encouraged to work in teams, problem-solve, and participate in peer review of their units. These projects are specifically arranged to allow the student to attain defined objectives as listed without limiting student expression of creativity.

Project-based learning assignments require students to read and comprehend the project directions then report the findings through several means. These many include a written report, a model, data collection and reporting, or even a multimedia presentation to the class.
